Created over the past six decades, sculptor Robert Murray’s extraordinary body of work synthesizes the rich tradition of landscape painting in Canada and the exciting vision of New York abstract expressionist and color-field painters.
Murray himself and author Jonathan D. Lippincott will discuss his process of working with fabricators and foundries to create his sculptures, the evolution from model to large-scale, and issues of public art and the siting of large-scale works. They will also talk about Murray’s personal experiences, including his early years in New York, close friendship with other artists such as Barnett Newman, and his lifelong interest in flying!
Robert Murray: Sculpture exhibit will be on view at the David Richard Gallery in New York, NY April 7 through May 5, 2019.
A book signing follows the event.
