Zacharias painted bold, vibrant, impasto Abstract Expressionism paintings with textured surfaces in the 1950s. Her paintings had a commanding presence, both from the thick application of pigment to the canvas surface that gave the paintings tremendous mass and depth as well as her strong, vigorous brush strokes.
